I've been teaching for 20 years. I am currently teaching 6-8 year olds, a primary multiage classroom. I love teaching in a multiage setting. You really learn what each child's strengths and weaknesses are. You also become very attached to most of the children. I received my BA from Glenville State College; My masters degree is in LD from The West Virginia College of Graduate Studies; and with my masters degree +45 hours I am certified to teach Elementary grades 1-6, Behavior Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Educable Mentally Impaired students. My first 5 years teaching were in an EMI self-contained classroom at Green Bank Elementary School in Pocahontas County. Then I came to Randolph County, where I was a Behavior Disorders Itinerant teacher for 2 years, serving 6 schools. After that I taught for 4 years at Elkins Middle School in another EMI/LD self-contained classroom. I am now starting my ninth year at Valley Head Elementary School. I collect Pianos and teach piano. I love the Washington Redskins. My Sundays in the fall are spent either watching the Redskins win, or yelling for the Steelers and the Cowboys to lose. George Strait is my favorite country singer. I am a member of the Nazarene Church. I have watched Guiding Light for 30 years. These are among my interesting characteristics. My favorite times are spent watching my nieces and nephews in sports. Amanda is a cheerleader at Pocahontas County High School. Jimmy plays soccer and softball. Emil is excelling in basketball, football, and softball. Timothy is playing college football at George Maxon. Laura is keeping football stats for her high school team near Lexington. Erin, Leah, Rachel and Autumn are expecting a new brother or sister in March of 2002. I'm hoping for a boy. Their mother Lisa recieved her Nursing degree. Their dad, my brother, Staff Sergeant Julian Galford, a Marine reservist spent two weeks at ground zero. My sister, Kay Wiley, is an Athletic Director and drivers education teacher at Pocahontas County High School. My brother Tim is a foreman at a Virginia Welding Shop. He and his wife Julia are building a new house on their 16 acres in Virginia. My mom Bettie is a retired school cook. She likes running the roads and helping neighbors. I have been busy this school year as President of PTO, Faculty Senate, and LSIC. I am also working with 6 cheerleaders, third and fourth grade age children. |
