Parent Involvement

 

Definition:  Parents working and communicating with school staff to help

                    provide the best possible learning environment for all students.

 

History:  The parent who cares and gets involved shows results in their

                 child’s school success.

 

A. Whole School Activities

 

1. First Day of School Holiday – A way to involve parents at the beginning of the year to

      develop a teamwork approach for the benefit of all children.

2.  PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)

a.  7:00 – 8:00 PM.   100-150 parents and students attend once a month

b.  Business Meeting

c.  Student Program

d.  6:00 PM Dinner, Business Meeting, Cakewalk.  200-300 attend 

      Cakewalk earns over $500.00

3. TAP (Teachers Assistance Program) average of 25 parents work per week.

4. Carnival

5. Playground / Living Science Center Committee – once a year

     activity 8:00 AM – 12:00 noon

6. Classroom Readers – One parent per homeroom reads story once a week.

7. Book Fair – Money earned buys more books for the library.

8.Chaperones

9. Party Committee – Parents and staff plan the food and activities for

    school party.

10. Business partners involved as parents.

11. Career Awarness Days – Parents as Presenters
