In Grafton, WV, the Memorial Day celebrations are just that -- celebrations. Along with honoring the fallen, the people of Grafton love to celebrate the lives of those still with them and the values for which soldiers fight. The tradition of this is set so deep into the minds of the citizens that it stays with them all their lives; many people that grow up in the county return in later years if only for this weekend.
This year’s Memorial Day weekend falls over the span of May 23rd-26th. A service will take place at the West Virginia National Cemetery on Sunday, May 25th. The annual parade will take place on Monday, May 26th with a remembrance service at the Grafton National Cemetery immediately following.
