Science classes study how things move.
How much force is needed
to
move a brick?
What can you do to make the brick easier to move? What is force,
work, and friction?
As we explored these and other questions in our study of simple
and complex machines, we also explored web sites with information about
machines.

Students around the world will board the tall ship Alvei as she travels
the oceans of the world following the historical sailing routes of early
explorers. Classrooms will have the opportunity to interact with
crew members in the day to day operations of a ship reminiscent of a bygone
era. These students will be engaging in cultural, historical, and
scientific exploration of water and land through experiences via the Internet.
Class
Weather Station
Students made homemade weather instruments to measure temperature,
wind speed and direction, air pressure, and amount of rainfall. Classroom
measurements were compared with other schools around the world by way of
the internet. Daily forecasts were shared on the school network TV. On
the first day of Spring, some 52 schools around the world reported their
data to us.
