STUDENT PICTURES - Our photographer, Alan Brasseur, has notified us that parents may have until November 6 to order and pay for student photographs. Please remember, Friday, November 6 is the deadline for ordering pictures.
POPCORN SALE - Our weekly popcorn sale will be on Friday as usual. Remember the cost for this healthy snack is $.50 per bag.
MUSTARD SEED FOOD COLLECTION - Each year at this time we ask our school family to help those in need in our community by contributing to the Mustard Seed’s food collection drive. This is an organization which charitably provides for many in our area, and the activity helps to teach our children a valuable lesson about community service and caring for others. We will be delivering the food that is collected on Tuesday, October 27. You may send in your food donations any time prior to that date. This year, the Mustard Seed has specifically requested that we appeal to you for items such as dry cereal, peanut butter, and canned fruit. Please remember the Mustard Seed cannot accept perishable items such as fresh fruit, vegetables, or meat.
KINDERGARTEN VISITOR - Bob Cenk, owner of Mountain Dreams International located in Pittsburgh and a guide for mountain climbing expeditions internationally, will be here on Wednesday, October 21st to speak to our Kindergarten classes and present a slide show. The presentation is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
PROCEDURAL REMINDER FOR SUPER WEDNESDAY - Students from the Primary grades [K-1-2] are required to bring a note to their teacher alerting the teacher that they (the student) will be staying after school for Super Wednesday every time they will be staying after school for that program. This helps us to be sure that we know where your child is after school, and the Super Wednesday staff will use that note to check against their role of attendance. Please be sure that you send a note each time your child is to stay for that program. Children who do not bring a note will not be allowed to stay.
FIT’ N FUN - Mrs. Goodwin, our Physical Education teacher, would like to hear from parents who might be interested in placing an order through this company prior to Christmas. She will be placing an order the first week of November. If you are interested or would like an order form, please contact Mrs. Goodwin here at school.
R.I.F. DISTRIBUTION - Our first of three free book distributions to each student will take place this week on October 21, 22, and 23. This is an excellent opportunity for us to begin the process of instilling a love of Reading and of books in our children. Watch for the book your child brings home and plan to read it with them.
HALLOWEEN PARTIES - The school Halloween parties will be held on Friday, October 30 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Each homeroom has designated three parents who are to coordinate, plan, and deliver the party to the students. Please be aware that only the three parents designated as homeroom parents for this party will be allowed in the classroom during that time. Those who will be serving in that capacity will be provided with a special ID badge to identify them as homeroom parents. All others will not be permitted access to the classroom. If you are a homeroom parent, please do not bring children who are not our students to the party. If you have any questions about these guidelines, please contact the principal.
SPECIAL NEEDS FUND - The school has a special team of educators titled the Student Assistance Program team which is charged with the responsibility of finding solutions for a wide range of student problems. One of the many problems this group addresses is that of clothing for students, particularly warm clothing as we enter the colder portion of the school year. As we have in the past, we come to you with a request for help with what is called the Nutter Fort Primary Special Needs Fund. Through this fund we will purchase clothing for children in need and we will also utilize some of those funds to meet other physical or social needs that our children may have without the means to meet that need. If you would be willing to help in this effort, we ask that you send your donations to the school office. Please make all checks payable to Nutter Fort Primary School and designate it as Special Needs Fund. Thank you for your generosity and support.
STUDENT FINGERPRINTING - On Tuesday, October 27 employees fron the FBI
fingerprint ID division and students from South Harrison High, who are
trained in fingerprinting, will be here to fingerprint all of our Kindergarten
students and all students who are new to this school in First or Second
Grade. This is a very timely and important service offered to the
parents of Harrison County by the FBI as a safety measure for children.
If the procedure is the same as we experienced last year, there will be
a permission form sent home to you which you must complete and return so
that the fingerprinting can be done.
