NUTTER FORT INTERMEDIATE MEMO
MAY 22, 2000

NO SCHOOL NEXT MONDAY -  There will be no school next Monday, May 22, 2000, for Memorial Day.  Have a safe and restful weekend.

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES – We have several activities planned for this week.  Today the 3rd and 5th grades had Awards Day.  Students were recognized for Scholarship and Conduct.  The 4th grade Awards Day will be on Wednesday, May 24th.
 Both 5th grade POD’s will be going on the annual trip to Pittsburgh this week.  Pod II will be going tomorrow, Tuesday, May 23rd and Pod I will go on Wednesday, May 24th.
 The 3rd grade Field Day is scheduled for tomorrow, May 23rd, with the rain date Friday, May 26th.

VOLUNTEER PICNIC -  The annual Volunteer Picnic will be held on Thursday, May 25th, at 11:30 a.m. at the Maple Shelter in Norwood Park.  We encourage all our volunteers to attend.  If you haven’t been contacted, and will be able to attend the picnic, contact the school office by tomorrow to make a reservation.

MARBLE TOURNAMENT -  The Marble Tournament will be held on Thursday, May 25th.  If your child can participate, please contact Mrs. Shepherd before Wednesday.  Permission slips are coming home today.  Please return these tomorrow.

NEXT WEEK -  4th Grade Field Day on Tuesday, May 30th – Rain date June 1st.  5th grade Field Day on Wednesday, May 31st – Rain date June 2nd.
 Mr. Bode’s class trip is on June 1st.  Class trips for Mrs. Kitzmiller, Mrs. Koreski, Mrs. Gorrell, MissPerri, Mrs. Squires, Mr. Corley, Mrs. Drummond, Mrs. Collins and Mrs. Zickefoose are scheduled for June 2nd.

SEMESTER TEST EXEMPTIONS - On Wednesday, May 31st,  students will bring home a note indicating if they are exempt from the semester exams and their last day of school will be Friday, June 2nd.  Notes will also be sent to those students that must take the exams and indicating their last day of school will be June 8th.  DON’T FORGET TO SENT IN THIS WEEK A SELF-ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE FOR THE REPORT CARD TO BE MAILED IF YOUR CHILD IS EXEMPT FROM THE EXAMS.
 June 7th and 8th will be 2 hour early dismissal.

REMINDER TO THOSE STUDENTS THAT STILL OWE FOR CANDY BARS AND SPRING SALE ITEMS.  WE NEED TO HAVE THIS TURNED IN IMMEDIATELY!!

A Basketball Camp will be held at Robert C. Byrd High School on June 12 –16 and a Girls Basket Camp on August 7 – 11.  If interested pick up a brochure with information in the office.

Congratulations to Emily Squires and Liza Fulks for receiving Honorable Mention at the State Social Studies Fair.  Also to Jessie Robinson for Honorable Mention Earth Day Poster.
