ART DEPARTMENT


      

  This course is designed to introduce students to the basic skills, techniques and concepts in the visual arts. Art I is divided into several related areas of study that include drawing, color, principles of design and elements of design.  Emphasis is placed on introducing students to these areas and on the processes that are important for growth in the visual arts.  An effort is also made to expand that student's perceptual skills and their awareness of the creative process.

       Prerequisite: Art II
                This course is designed for students who have acquired some of the more advanced skills, techniques and concepts, to continue their development and expand their experiences in the visual arts.

       Prerequisite: Art III
                Students will develop their personal philosophy of art.

   Prerequisite: Art I or teacher recommendation
                This course is designed as a basic studio course in drawing and painting techniques, various art media and usage, the principles and elements of art, and various painting styles and techniques.  It is an advanced approach which incorporates independent evaluation of one's own art work as well as others, self confidence in one's own abilities, and a life-time interest in art.

Murals created by art students decorate the hallways of EHS
