Interact

The Elkins High School Interact Club was created in 1994.  It is a student service group that works in conjunction with the Elkins Rotary Club.  The club is involved in a number of community projects and services.  Members participate in the March of Dimes walk.  In 1997, the club won the state award for raising the most money of any high school for this project.  They have also constructed floats for the Forest Festival with Rotary members.  They work with the Elkins Rotary on the FUN NIGHT, which is the largest fund raiser for the Elkins Rotary.  Interact hosts a blood drive annually which generates a lot of support from other students and the community.  The most recent community service is an Adopt - A - Highway Project along industrial park roads..

Some of the other community service activities Interact has participated in are March of dimes, hosted the fall blood drive, Christmas Caroling for the elderly and held a clothing drive for the homeless during the winter.  It's a "close nit" and hard working club which also rewards its members for their participation.  Coming at the end of February will be another blood drive which we hope to see many students donating.

Interact meetings are held as needed.  Members are encouraged to join other clubs as well but still be an active member of Interact.  A picnic is held in late August to invite new members to the club.  Anyone who has an interest in community service can join.  The club is not intended for fund raising and personal gain.  It is solely to help the Elkins Community.

Interact offers students many leadership opportunities.  At least two freshmen are chosen each to attend RYLA, which is a weekend long leadership camp.  Other members are invited to participate in state level conferences sponsored by the Rotary Club.

If anyone is interested in joining the club just watch the announcements for meeting days and come join us.
