The Spanish Honor Society  inducts students every year who have shown excellence and enthusiasm for the study of Spanish language and culture.  Students must be in at least Spanish II and have maintained and "A" average for 1 1/2 consecutive semesters.  Students who become members leanr about and take a quiz on the chapter namesake- Oscar Arias, the Nobel Peace Prize- winning president of Costa Rica in the late 1980s.  There is a candlelight ceremony in May to induct new members.  Students express what aspect of Spanish study had the greatest impact on them and what they would like to do with Spanish in the future.
