Historic Hinton Manor, a beautiful home found within Hinton's Historic District, may be seen as you stroll through on a walking tour starting at the downtown Visitors Center on Temple Street. Built in 1915 the home features interior woodwork imported from the Black Forest of Germany and is on the National Register of Historic Places, along with dozens of other historical buildings and homes which represent the architectural gems found within the historic district. a>

    Visitors to southern West Virginia must also visit Pipestem State Park, Bluestone Lake, Bluestone Dam, and Bluestone State Park. Whitewater rafting outfitters are located within minutes and boating may be enjoyed on the beautiful Bluestone Lake. The best fishing east of the Mississippi may be enjoyed in the New River, the Greenbrier and the Bluestone River, all located in historic Hinton. Summers County is home to the legendary John Henry, the steel drivin' man, who beat the steam drill with a hammer in his hands! Monument and tunnel can still be seen.

        Another highlight of southern West Virginia is a visit to the Veterans Memorial Museum located on Ballengee Street in historic Hinton which features exhibits from the early frontier, Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I and II, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf War.

    The Hinton Railroad Museum is a must see attraction while visiting historic Hinton and plan to take a walking tour through the historic district featuring many other (over 200) buildings, churches and residences with rare and unusual architecture.

Nearby Lewisburg is filled with antique shops and Civil War history, and Princeton is home to the Devil Ray's baseball team. Beckley will greet visitors with a tour of an authentic coal mine, a must-see!
