Pipestem State Park
is only 13 miles from The Country Cabin and is a favorite place to visit for our guests. They have horseback riding, indoor/outdoor pools, a tram that takes you deep into the Bluestone Gorge for a great dining experience! There are all kinds of hiking trails to enjoy.
Bluestone State Park, Bluestone Lake and Bluestone Dam - These beautiful scenic spots are located 8 miles past Pipestem State Park. Guests can rent a boat at the Bluestone Marina or simply enjoy an outing at the park, with a great outdoor swimming pool and lots of hiking trails. Bluestone Dam is open for tours from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Great hunting and fishing is available year round at the Bluestone Wildlife Management Area.
Camp Creek State Park - is located just about 12 minutes from The Country Cabin and is wonderful for hiking and outdoor enjoyment.

You won't want to miss our cozy old log cabin, the homey atmosphere, and the feel of 'goin' to Grandma's house! The Country Cabin is neither luxurious, nor rustic, but is simply an old log cabin farmhouse that our guests enjoy with evenings in front of our cozy fireplace and quiet, peaceful surroundings. It is fully furnished with a full kitchen (dishes and cookware provided), one bath, all towels, linens and can accommodate 6-8 people.

If you are planning an upcoming summer vacation to Bluefield/Princeton, Pipestem or the surrounding area or if you are headed to the slopes at Winterplace Ski Resort, you will enjoy the cozy, homey feel of The Country Cabin. Located on Rt. 19, it is really easy to get to, just 3 and one-half miles from Interstate 77. The cabin retreat has an absolutely beautiful setting, situated in the Bluestone Valley. 5 state parks are within a 30 minute drive.
The yard is quite large, with huge oak trees and during warmer months, there is a place to build an outdoor campfire area.
The old log cabin, built by a descendent of one of the earliest settlers in the region, features the round logs on the outside and solid pine wood on the inside, hardwood floors, walls, ceilings, and doors. There is a fireplace in the living room.
When you enter the home, there is a beautiful sunporch which gives you a spectacular view of the Bluestone Valley. Guests also enjoy watching the deer as they graze through the fields. We also have a resident squirrel in the nearby oak tree and a few rabbits which stop by for a visit. On the sunporch we have wicker furniture and an antique table with chairs for dining. The kitchen features a large area with stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster and plenty of cookware and dishes. The dining room features another dining table with ladder back chairs. The living room is a fairly large room with two sofas and a chair. There is a phone and we also have satellite TV. The front porch is quite nice with rockers and chairs. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor, one has a queen-size bed, the other has a set of bunk beds. The large bath is located on the first floor, with all towels/soap provided. In the loft, you will find one long room with 2 full-size beds. The home has several antiques found throughout, but also is a mix of early American furniture. Early in the 1900s when Carlos B. Farley cleared the land to build his log cabin in the beautiful Bluestone Valley, little did he know that the tiny homestead would later become one of southern West Virginia's most popular vacation retreat.
