Plan to attend the Kanawha Alumni annual gathering held each year during the Memorial Day weekend. In May, 1998, the group will celebrate the 78th anniversary of the organization and the 79th anniversary of Burnsville High School.
Last year's activities included a parade, which showcased marching bands, a Parade marshall, floats, and former football players, cheerleaders, homecoming queens, band members and other community members. During the afternoon, classes held meetings and reunions throughout the town. At 5 o'clock, the annual banquet was held at the school cafeteria. The evening closed with square and round dancing.
