HISTORY  


    Anna Jarvis Elementary School is a PreK-4 school located in Grafton, Taylor County, West Virginia. Grafton is a small town in a rural county. The school which opened in 1972 was the result of the consolidation of six very small schools. Since the opening, two other small elementary schools have been consolidated into the Anna Jarvis attendance district. This attendance district covering approximently two-thirds of Taylor County is diverse in it's make-up. Anna Jarvis serves a regular education population of approximately 95 percent of the elementary special education population in Taylor County. Our enrollment is over 500 students.

    In 1985 the early childhood center in Grafton also became part of Anna Jarvis although it is housed in a seperate building from the main campus. The early childhood center was named Anna Jarvis West and has since averaged approximately 120 kindergarten students in attendance annually. Since 1985 these two seperate buildings have made up the physical plant of Anna Jarvis Elementary School. A twelve room addition to the main building has been constructed and was completed fall of 1996. The entire school is now one campus.
